I am a Downward Dog… Practicing Balance and Stretching my Muscles.
I have seen my Mama and Daddy do yoga sometimes. From what I can tell, it is like being a cat, a dog, and a bird all at once. You stretch, you balance, and you work on becoming peaceful and stronger.
I know that calm is not my strong suit, but I am peaceful all the same, and I am strong for my little size. So when my big sister Addie wanted for me to practice yoga moves with her, becoming a dog in a dog stretch called “downward dog,” and she told me what it was, I had to try it. I think that I did pretty well in our little kitchen doing yoga. We had obstacles, yes, like the little bowl on my foot, but that just made it more of a challenge.
Watch out, Mama and Daddy, I am fast becoming a yoga master, and before you know it, I will surpass you. After all, I have youth on my side.
Wonderful post! yoga is my passion!. Check out my yoga blog beyogiful365days.wordpress.com

I love the bowl on the foot! Why not spice it up a bit? (If that was me with a bowl on my foot, my foot would slip out from under me and I would be laying in an ungraceful mess on the floor.)

Ha! Miss Dorian loves a challenge. Perhaps when she is older she will do aerial yoga. She loves to flip and to be up in the air. 🙂 Her Mama isn’t nearly as adventurous as she is. I also would be on the floor.

This one cracks me up too because not only do my kids do it, I found a photo from probably 1983 or so where I am doing it. What kind of instinct is this?

Ha, yes! My older daughter used to do this, too, when she was that small! I don’t know if I did, but I guess a lot of children do. It has to be instinct– we were made to do yoga! Dorian does it almost every day! She has a pair of pants that look like yoga pants too, and I definitely need to snap a picture of that. 🙂 Thanks so much for reading and responding, too– so cool to hear what other little ones her age are doing.
