I am “Versatile?” I am “Versatile!” The Versatile Bloggers Award

versatile-blogger-award

Oh, oh, ohhhhh, I am so excited. In the last year (yes, I said year, because I just passed my blogging anniversary the other day), I have been honored by having a few awards by those who matter most in my blog world… the people who take the time to read my little toddler-headed thoughts. My Mama said that I should be “humbled,” and when she explained what that meant, I agree. I am so very humbled and happy to be recognized. The person who nominated me, Poetry and Chocolate and Books, is truly one of the very best blogs that my Mama and I have come across. If you don’t know her work, please take the time to stop by. You won’t regret it, promise, but you may lose some well spent minutes (or hours) on her site. 🙂 Her link is: https://poetryandchocolateandbooks.wordpress.com. Follow her and fall in love with her thoughts.

As all blogger awards go, there are rules. Some rules are meant to be broken, but these aren’t because these awards are about you, yes, but they are even more about recognizing other bloggers that you have been touched by. There are so many of those… and I am thankful for all of them.

That said, here are the rules:

– Show the award on your blog (check).
– Thank the person who nominated you (check).
– Share 7 facts about yourself
– Nominate 15 blogs.
– Link your nominees’ blogs, and let them know. 🙂

Two down, three to go! Let’s see, seven things about me. Since I am small, those things change all of the time, so I will “live in the moment” and share seven things going on right now. Right this very minute.

1. I still only have 10 teeth at over 20 months old. I know a baby that is a year younger with the same amount, so that makes me a bit behind on the teeth department. That doesn’t mean that I can’t take care of my food needs. Those 10 teeth? They work overtime and I know how to use them.

2. I am currently obsessed with the movie “Frozen.” My Mama tells me that this is true for about half of the population under the age of 7, so this is not unique, but my singing along is. From morning until night I sing “Let it Go” over and over and over and over and over again. I sing it in the crib, I sing it around the house, in the car… everywhere. I have a bit of trouble with my “L” sounds right now though, so it comes out “Det it Do.” It is beautiful all the same though, so even though Mama and Daddy seem a bit tired of the movie, they never get tired of hearing me shout-sing “Det it Dooooooooo, Det it Dooooooo…” See? I can’t even stop in this blog.

3. Speaking of singing, I have been told that I have a beautiful singing voice. I sing from morning until night everywhere that I go. My Daddy says that I have good “pitch,” which he says means that I can hear the notes and sing along to them just like I heard. All that I know is that I love to do it.

4. My Mama tries so hard, but I just can’t keep my clothes and my face clean. I am always snacking on something while moving around, and it leads me to having stains on my pretty clothes. My Mama stated that she is surprised I have any clothes without spots on them left. Even though this is true, I do not like things being dirty, and “eewwwwwwwww” is one of my favorite words because it makes Mama and Daddy take away the things that I find yucky.

5. I love water. Any water anywhere. I would take a bath and help with the dishes every moment that I am awake if I were allowed to. Wrinkly skin? Not an issue for these hands– I love it when my hands and feet get all wrinkly.

6. Sometimes I don’t exactly pay attention to where I am headed. When this happens, I have bumped into walls and doorways. Lesson learned– paying attention while moving is important. Note: That does not mean that this will not happen again tomorrow.

7. I love my veggies more than candy. Mama says that makes me just plain odd in the kid world, but they just taste better to me. Broccoli over chocolate… well, usually broccoli over chocolate anyway. Fruit popsicles are the exception to this rule, though… especially the pineapple ones.

Now for the nominees. My Mama and I tried to pick blogs that we have found and love that we consider “versatile.” Mama had to explain that one to me too, and I think that I get it. It means that I do a lot of different types of things. That is me all of the time. I am the essence of versatility. These wonderful people are too…

All of these blogs are wonderful and we visit them often. Some have beautiful pictures, some have beautiful poetry or creative writing, some have inspirational thoughts, and some have all of the above. All of them are worth visiting and following– bring them into your reading list when you have the time. 🙂 I love the community of bloggers that we have found in this past year’s journey. There are so, so many wonderful folks out there and we are lucky to get to be a small part of their virtual lives.

That’s it! If you have hung on until the end of this post, we’re all done with the list now. It’s a lot like when my Mama has to clean the house and she has a “to-do” list. I have checked off the list. I have also now learned the word “versatile” as my Mama had to explain it to me, so I am more wise than I was before I started creating this blog. Thank you all, and again, thanks to Poetry and Chocolate and Books for nominating me. It means more than I can express here.

It is Wonderful to Feel Loved… Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Mama told me that we were nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award the other day by Stylish Affairs, a wonderful blog site about being happy, confident, proud of the skin that you are in, and, as the title states, stylish as you go. 🙂 The cousin team who write for Stylish Affairs are wonderful, and they have brought inspiration and happiness to their audience. They are inspirational and well worth following and reading. 🙂

Since I was nominated once before a while ago, this blog is standing as a thank you to Stylish Affairs and to nominate other wonderful blogs that Mama and I have found while reading. Mama and I specifically enjoy reading inspirational blogs– ones that lift you up– and parenting blogs (because Mama says that having a community of others parenting is a wonderful thing– I don’t know about this, but I sure like the pictures of all of the little ones about my size). This go around is to nominate others that are in one of those categories. Here. We. Go. The nominees are:

1. http://babyblueeis.com

This site is a parenting blog, and it is done by the Mama of a little girl, Eisley, by her Mama. Alexa. Easley is the subject of many of the blogs, and she is a beauty. Beautiful pics of food and Alexa’s little one can be found here, and it is well worth the visit and follow.

2. https://conceivabledream.wordpress.com

We recently found Terri and her blog, too. Mama loves this one because it has simple and direct parenting advice and fun information. It is a mix of a lot of different topics related to family and health. I love the pics of food and her wee one.

3. https://bipolarmatriarch.wordpress.com

This is a wonderfully powerful and inspirational blog about health, wellness, love, and parenting. Stop by, follow, and be inspired and happier before you leave. Motivational messages are a wonderful thing even for us little ones.

4. http://thesimplysweetproject.com

Food is inspiration, and wonderful pictures and recipes of food can be found here. I love this one a lot because pretending to cook, looking at how Daddy cooks, and eating food are some of my very favorite things.

5. http://emmaludeke.com

We just found this Mama, too, and the pics of her little one, Charlotte, is the subject of her blog. She is doing what Mama is helping me to do– making memories and keepsakes for when her little one gets big.

6. http://bumpbabyme.com

This is a parenting advice and diary for her wee one. Annie, the writer, blogs helpful advice for other Mama’s entering the parenting world and the fun things that she gets to do with her little one. Mama says she loves London and wants to go back, so seeing beautiful pictures there is a great thing.

7. http://www.monepositiveblog.com

This is what it says that it is, and that is a wonderful blog about being positive. Many inspirational messages here, and Mama and I are both happy that we found Magdalena and her site.

8. https://spicysweet113.wordpress.com

We also recently found this blog, and we are both happy that we did. This blog is a diary of sorts with parenting information, health information, and general life information. All of the posts are fun and well worth the read.

That’s it! All of these wonderful folks deserve recognition for their wonderful work. Please stop by to support them if you can. To the bloggers nominated– if you have been nominated before, that’s okay. You don’t have to do a post, or if you do, you can always nominate other blogs that you love too. 🙂 To Stylish Affairs once again, thank you so, so much.

I am a Sister! The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

wpid-sisterhood1

Mama told me last night that I had been nominated for another blog award, and that this one was a sisterhood. I thought that meant that we were getting more sisters in the house besides Addie and Lilli, but Mama laughed and let me know that it means that it is a group of women (or in my case, little girls) who are all in something together—like blogging. I couldn’t be more happy to be in a group of people who have things in common with me, and if it is the kind of people that Mama reads the blogs from for me, I am in great company because they sure are pretty amazing people.

Melody of “Life’s Daily Dose” nominated me, and she is pretty fantastic. We love her blog, which is about making life simple, making others happy, and helping others overall. We seem to be like-minded in that way. â˜ș Her blog is http://www.lifesdailydose.com. Check it out when you can if you have not already, and gain some insight on what really matters. You’ll absorb a bit of happiness in the process. Thank you for recognizing me, Melody! It means more than I can write here.

There are “rules” to all things, and this is no different. The rules for this award are:

– Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
– Put the award logo on your blog.
– Answer the ten questions they have set you.
– Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
– Nominate ten people

Here are my 10 responses to Melody’s questions:

â–Ș What is the last book you read?
“That’s Not My Monster” By Fiona Watt and Rachel Wells. It is a torrid tale of a little mouse looking for its monster, but it keeps finding the wrong one. Spoiler Alert: It has a happy ending.

â–Ș In your opinion, what is the perfect date?
Oh, Mama and Daddy go on dates sometimes, and they have even left me behind while they do it. Mama said that it is when you get to go out with the one that you love most. I love Mama and Daddy most, so I think that the perfect date would be going outside with them in my fancy jogging stroller and them making me go fast and making me laugh. Then I want to go to eat Vietnamese food. I love Vietnamese food already. Then
 a nap.

â–Ș Why did you start blogging?
Mama and Daddy and me went all the way to California when I was 8 months old. Mama took a picture of me touching the Golden Gate Bridge, which is the top picture on my blog, and a friend of ours wrote Mama to tell her that it was a great idea for a website. Mama loves to write, so she got excited, and here I am
 an award winning blogger. 😉

â–Ș Small town or big city? Why?
Oh, I love them both, but my very favorite things to do are to be around lot of people, to go out to eat, and to see new things that I haven’t seen before. I like quiet too, so I think that I choose a bit city near a small town so that I can have both.

â–Ș If you could be one of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S characters, which one would you be?
I have never seen that show, and Mama says that I wouldn’t get most of what they are saying. She did say that there was a pet monkey in it for a while, and I know what monkeys are. They are fun and they like to get into trouble and to get into everything. Mama says his name was Marcel, and so that’s who I am choosing. Daddy does call me a “little monkey” sometimes after all.

â–Ș What makes you unique?
Mama and Daddy tell me that no one is exactly like anyone else, and they tell me that I am very special every day. They, and other people too, tell me that I am one of the happiest babies that they have ever met and that I “shine.” I do shine on the inside, and it shows on the outside, too. As Mama says, I glow.

â–Ș Do you have any tattoos?
I know what those are! Mama has a few and Daddy has a whole bunch of them—and Mama and Daddy even have the Legend of Zelda characters on them with half a heart each. They said that means that they love each other so much that they put something that will never, ever go away on them to show that they are a part of each other. I love that Mama and Daddy are like Link and Zelda. Me, though, I don’t have any tattoos and haven’t even had the temporary ones. Mama just whispered that that is something called “illegal” and that it is going to be a long, long, long time before I get any of them.

â–Ș What is your favorite quote?
I have had a lot of books and stories and poems read to me already by everyone that I love. My very favorite quote now, though, and my favorite thing to hear, is “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe. I am a really busy person and it is hard to get me still when I am awake, but when Mama reads that poem to me, I always get really still. It has a wonderful sound to it, like water moving back and forth in the tub.

“It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee; —
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.”

That is why I rewrote it in a poem about the joy in my life early in my blog. https://dorianshand.wordpress.com/2014/05/09/edgar-allen-poe-eat-your-heart-out-i-can-make-word-music-too/

â–Ș What is the last movie you saw in the theatre?
Being that I am a little baby, I have never been to a theatre. Mama and Daddy and Addie just went to see something called “Ghostbusters,” but they told me that it was too scary for me. The last movie that I saw was “My Neighbor Totoro.” All of us love that movie. I wish I could hug Totoro and that I could see the Susuwatari dust bunnies that must be in the house watching us somewhere.

â–Ș What is one thing you are looking forward to?
Oh, I look forward to things every day. As Mama says, every day is a fun day for me, even when we are just hanging out at the house like we are today. One thing that I know that I am doing soon is going camping with everyone this weekend in our Winn-e-bago house on wheels. It is the first time that we have had all of us in that little house. It’s going to be crowded in there, but I like being in crowds and they are my very favorite people in the whole world, and I am sure that there will be veggie dogs. I love veggie dogs.

Now I need to nominate other folks for the award, too, and I need to nominate all girls like me too, I think, since it is a sisterhood. I am choosing all women who embrace happiness, art, and beauty in themselves and others. Mama helped me with the wording on that last part because I had trouble putting what I wanted into words. Mama and I spent this afternoon looking for ones that hit us hard and made us happy.

http://myseoulinbkk.com

I just found her because she found me, but her pictures are gorgeous and Mama says that she lives in a beautiful place that she has never been but would love to go to. I thought that my Mama had been everywhere, so that was news to me.
http://monkeypalmtree.com

This site is just beautiful and has information on health, life’s daily chores and responsibilities, and being a Mama. We love all of those things, and smoothies are my very favorite food right now.

http://lauramulqueen.wordpress.com

This blog has a lot of things having to do with being a girl and being powerful in the world, but it is anything that strikes her to write about. There is a lot there that hit my Mama hard and that she identified with. Plus, my Mama just finished reading “If I Stay” this morning early, and she was crying, so Panda’s review on the book hit home with her too. Plus, plus
she lives in Ireland. I haven’t been yet, but Mama says it is her favorite place on the Earth.

http://seekyourblissnow.com

This blog is about finding what makes you happy and isn’t just by one person standing alone. Outdoors and exercise are two things that are in a lot of the posts, and those are some of our favorites. These aren’t all women—but it involves happiness in people, so we are counting it in.

http://kristysbrainfood.com

This blog is all about writing, life, and inspiration. It is a beautiful blog.

http://kathrynwarmstrong.wordpress.com

This is a beautiful blog about life, writing, and family, too. There are a lot of beautiful pictures, and there is a lot of nature
and I love the feel of leaves against my feet and the itchy grass in my toes.

http://sincerelyxdonnaxb.wordpress.com

This blog is all about life and hope and writing. The author, Donna, states that writing brings her joy and happiness. I get that already. Mama and I love to write and create, and we love to explore the world through words.

http://rachelbeingchatty.wordpress.com

This blog is a lot of “random.” Mama and I both think that random really means wonderful. Therefore, her blog is wonderful.

http://josefinegrimmblenk.com

This blog has a lot to do with getting what you want out of life, living your life to the fullest, and being happy. It also deals with making “money” (Mama says that is a necessary part of life that sometimes she wishes wasn’t) by being at home. This is Mama’s main goal in life—freedom—so she loves this one.

http://sunsetsandsweettea.wordpress.com

Oh, this blog
the wonders and beauty and sadness and happiness of life. The poetry selections here are wonderful.

The last part
whew, this is a long one to do. My little brain hurts from all of this pondering. These are the questions for my nominees. Note to all of these wonderful folks—if you do not wish to do the post, that is absolutely okay. Some folks may have been nominated for this award or others before, and they are work to do. This is just for the recognition of being wonderful bloggers and writers and artists. If you wish to, though, please do, and know that we are grateful for your work. â˜ș

1. What inspires you most to write?
2. What it your favorite thing to do in the entire world?
3. If you could travel anywhere in our beautiful world, where would it be?
4. What is your favorite book?
5. What are you most proud of?
6. How has your blog helped you most?
7. What is your favorite childhood memory?
8. What is your biggest passion?
9. Your favorite food?
10. What is your favorite quote?

If you got way down here, you read this entire post
and it’s long, maybe the longest one I have ever done. If I laid it down flat on paper, it might just be longer than I am. Thanks for getting to the bottom of the post and hanging in there for this one. Please do visit the bloggers’ pages when you can and enjoy them like Mama and me have. Thank you again, for this award, Melody, and thank you to everyone who has supported me, too.

XO,
Dorian Dean
